teen specific Programs in the Los angeles AREA

Most Arts based programs for High School Age students are FREE. Typically, all you have to do do is apply! If there is additional requirements they may range between letters of recommendation from teachers, financial information for parents, never any immigration status for either the student or parent/ guardians, and possibly grades/ or proof of being a student in the school within your district. The great thing too is that if you need transportation, often programs are really great about helping students out with that.

RYMAN ARTS

Ryman Arts teaches classical drawing and painting to talented and motivated High School students as a bridge to a lifetime that expresses and appreciates the arts.

Las Fotos Project is a community-based nonprofit organization that inspires teenage girls through photography, mentorship, and self-expression. Offering year-round programming, we provide girls with access to professional cameras, quality instruction and workshops that encourage them to explore their identity


826LA

826LA provides a variety of free programming for students ages 6–18, designed to challenge and enchant while strengthening writing skills.


Compton G.IRLS Club

Compton Girls Club is a client-centered girls empowerment group based in Compton California.  We reach out to girls via workshops, introductions to new skills, and field trips. Girls are introduced to life skills through mentors and speakers of color.  


LA COMMONS

LA Commons, a project of Community Partners, works in neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles, facilitating artistic processes, open to all, that result in highly visible public art projects that tell dynamic neighborhood stories. L.A. Commons builds community by validating the importance of local narratives, enhancing the sense of belonging felt by a broad range of stakeholders and encouraging stronger ties between the people and places of Los Angeles.


GETTY MUSEUM TEEN PROGRAMS + GETTY #UNSHUTTERED

The education department at the J. Paul Getty Museum seeks to inspire all of our audiences to engage with our collection and exhibitions through programs and resources at the Getty Center and the Getty Villa. 


MOCA TEENS

MOCA invites teens to connect with the museum, art, and the community through programs created by teens, for teens, such as the annual Teen Night and the MOCA Teen Program. *ALSO FREE MUSEUM VISIT FOR ANYONE 17 AND UNDER*


 

pROGRAMS IN CA, NOT FREE BUT PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

CALIFORNIA STATE SUMMER SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS [CSSSA]

The California State Summer School for the Arts, commonly known as CSSSA, is a rigorous four-week, pre-professional visual and performing arts training program for high school students held each summer at the California Institute of the Arts.

The OXBOW SCHOOL

The Oxbow curriculum is designed to match the requirements of the nation’s best public and private high schools and is as committed to academics as it is to art making. All of the courses at Oxbow are accredited, honors level, and college preparatory. The Oxbow School is a private, independent and not for profit organization.

PASADENA ART CENTER

ArtCenter for Teens is a unique art and design program tailored just for teens in grades 9 through 12. In ArtCenter for Teens, we offer classes for all experience levels and in a variety of areas—from fine art to automobile design to video game development to fashion design. Whatever your passion, there is a class for you in ArtCenter for Teens.

OTIS PRE COLLEGE

Courses for students ages 5 – 18 introduce the elements and principles of art and design and encourage personal self-expression. Taught by practicing professional artists who are also skilled arts educators, our programs are designed for the experienced artist as well as students with limited art training.
